As a third-year Resident Assistant (RA) for UF Housing and Residence & Education, I serve as the head RA for my Living Learning Community (LLC) at Trusler Hall that houses the Leader Scholar Program. This program caters to first - year students and helps them with their transition from high - school to college while also helping them find their place at UF. Some of my job responsibilities as an RA include:

  •  Developing and maintaining a positive community atmosphere for over 50 residents in group meetings and activities aimed at forming values and fostering communication, mutual respect, and cooperation

  • Developing, planning, and implementing monthly building-wide events to aid over 200 residents in developing their leadership skill

  • Performing crisis intervention protocols that include confrontation mediation, enforcement of policies, and dealing with emergency cases

Live. Learn.  Lead.

"Being an RA has not only allowed me to help others but has also helped me in so many ways. Being a resource to others, aware of diversity, an aid to residents and an overall role model has helped mold me into the student leader I am today. It has taught me cultural competency, how to meet someone where they are and most importantly, that our unique qualities can create a profound community.“
